ACT Form 84 Summary

Data Description

ACT Form 84 collects the cognitive screening information on ACT participants as measured by the Cognitive Abilities Screening Instrument (CASI). A high-level overview of the content areas is shown below.

Pre-CASI Questions

  • Is this a good day, a bad day, or an average day for you?
  • If bad day, why? (physical, emotional, other) 

CASI Questions / Tasks

  • Past events and knowledge recall
  • Word and numeric pattern repetition and recall
  • Orientation to place and time 
  • Inventory (list generating fluency)
  • Abstracting similarities
  • Judgment / actions in different contexts
  • Verbal repetition, writing, and instructional tasks
  • Object recognition, recall

Administrative

  • Start / stop time, duration
  • Exam status, validity of score

Important Note: Form contents have changed over the years so all the above items may not be collected over the full duration of the ACT study. 


Data Structure 

This Form 84 dataset contains one row per visit at which the study form was collected.
